Our History
Medicap Pharmacy has been serving Marshalltown as the only independent pharmacy since 1975.
Ray Weitzel brought Medicap Pharmacy to Marshalltown under the name of Medicine Chest. The pharmacy was located in the strip mall behind the funeral home located at State St and Hwy 14. In 1978 Weitzel purchased the old Conoco gas station next to the medical clinic. Weitzel re-modeled and added on to the original station. In 1993 Ray Weitzel sold the business back to the Medicap corporate office. Medicap Corporate tore down the old building and constructed the building that is currently there today. The pharmacy was operated under the ownership of the Medicap Corporate until 1997 when it was purchased by Scott Snyder.
In June of 2005, Sam and Samantha Zoske purchased the business from Snyder. Samantha is the current managing pharmacist while Sam serves as the business manager.
Medicap Pharmacy staffs 7 certified pharmacy technicians and 2 pharmacists.
Medicap’s primary focus is providing the highest customer service and quality health care in Marshalltown. As the only locally owned and operated retail pharmacy in Marshalltown, Medicap takes the time to get to know each patient by more than just a name.
